David Moyes target Said Benrahma causes a huge stir with amazing performance so what are West Ham waiting for?

West Ham United target Said Benrahma caused a huge stir with an amazing performance in Brentford’s 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Fulham last night.

Is the great GSB divide actually helping West Ham?

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for Benrahma this window (Evening Standard).

The playmaker is represented by Will Salthouse, who is said to be the preferred agent of West Ham co-owner David Sullivan ().

Bees boss Thomas Frank recently admitted Benrahma is for sale at the right price and ‘deserves a move’ (Sky Sports).

West Ham heavily linked with Benrahma

Speculation has since claimed West Ham are baulking at the Benrahma fee (Telegraph).

But that fee may have just gone up after a Dimitri Payet-esque display from the attacker last night.

Benrahma was in scintillating form, scoring two goals and playing a crucial part in the other as Brentford made the quarter-finals (Sky Sports highlights).

It was the West Ham target’s second goal of the night – and the game’s third – which saw social media blow up, though.

Receiving the ball 30 yards out Benrahma turned to face away from goal with the ball before rolling it backwards with his studs through the legs of Fulham defender Michael Hector, turning and curling a sumptuous drive into the bottom corner.

Hammers target causes huge stir with Payet-esque display

It was breathtaking stuff from the man West Ham have been linked with since July.

Pundits and fans took to Twitter to laud Benrahma.

The likes of Darren Bent and former Hammer Danny Gabbidon praised Benrahma.

Bent said: “Benrahma just did that on TV… he needs to be in the Premier League, too much quality.”

Gabbidon added: “Benrahma has just ruptured Virgil Van Mike’s confidence ligament with that piece of nastiness!!!”

The performance saw social media flooded with praise for Benrahma and West Ham fans urging the club to make the signing happen.

Even the Carabo Cup’s official Twitter feed got in on the act.

“Shouldn’t be allowed to do this before the watershed,” they said.

And Soccer AM asked how long it would be until the Hammers target is in the Premier League.

“Everything about this goal from Said Benrahma is just 🤤🤤🤤. Should he be strutting his stuff in the Premier League? ”

What are West Ham waiting for?

West Ham have never truly replaced Payet. Manuel Lanzini and Felipe Anderson just don’t cut the mustard.

So it begs the question, what are West Ham waiting for?

Unpopular co-owner David Sullivan told talkSPORT last week that West Ham have a transfer budget of £40million.

They have spent £5m of it making right-back Vladimir Coufal their first new arrival of the window (whufc.com).

So that means Moyes has £35m left to spend and only 3 days left to spend it before the window shuts.

Yes he needs a new centre-back. But if there is a deal to be done for Benrahma, West Ham must find a way or be filled with regret when one of their Prem rivals does.
