David Moyes has claimed that he already has the ideal backup striker for Michail Antonio at West Ham.
The Hammers manager failed to bring a new forward into the London Stadium during the January transfer window, much to the dismay of the club’s fans.
Most West Ham fans believe that the club’s owners are to blame for the lack of transfer activity last month.

It has been suggested that Moyes dithers in the transfer market as well, taking too long to come up with a list of targets.
In all fairness it’s probably a bit of both. One thing that is inexcusable, however, is making moves to sign players so late on in the transfer window. West Ham had 31 days to get some business done.
It seemed as though the powers that be at the London Stadium were trying to get everything done in the final 12 hours of the window through. And our failure to sign a new striker could very well end up costing us this season.
West Ham now have to rely on Michail Antonio as our only option through the middle between now and May. And we’re fighting on three fronts!
Moyes believes we’ll be just fine though…
David Moyes thinks West Ham have ideal backup striker for Antonio already
The Scot sat down for a wide-ranging interview with the club’s official website after what was an extremely frustrating January transfer window.
Moyes suggested that it is incredibly difficult to find a better backup option to Michail Antonio than West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen:
“West Ham supporters can be reassured that we were really ambitious in what we were trying to do. We were really ambitious in trying to get good players and players who could help us and make a difference. We’ve also got Jarrod Bowen and it would be very difficult to get a better back-up to Micky Antonio than Jarrod. We were always looking to try and find replacements in several areas, but it just became pretty difficult in the end and we missed out on one or two late on.”
It’s a fair comment to say that Jarrod Bowen is a solid backup for Antonio.
Where that argument falls apart though is that if the 25-year-old has to cover in the centre-forward position, we then lose his qualities out on the right wing.
The concerning thing about Moyes’s comments on the striker position is that he seems happy with Antonio as our only option. Sure, he said that the owners tried to get deals done, but it was all too little too late.
The truth of the matter is that West Ham don’t need to sign one striker in the summer, we need to sign TWO.
Hopefully Moyes manages to do that but judging by his comments, we will be lucky to get one.
