According to a new report, West Ham United boss David Moyes confirmed interest in Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley and has also been linked with a new move for Michy Batshuayi.
Chelsea have been busy adding to their squad with Timo Werner set to join Hakim Ziyech to Stamford Bridge.
It comes as the Blues are linked with Ben Chilwell and a host of other stars.
As a result Frank Lampard is planning a Chelsea clearout and West Ham could be one of the beneficiaries.
Moyes wants Barkley reunion – report
That’s according to a new report from The Mirror today which claims West Ham manager Moyes has confirmed he wants to bring Barkley to the London Stadium.
West Ham have been linked with Barkley for some time and were said to be looking to sign him on loan with an option back in January (The Mirror).
Now The Mirror claims Moyes has told them he wants a reunion with Barkley after they worked together at Everton.
And the same article claims West Ham will also try – yet again – for Chelsea outcast Batshuayi in the summer window.
“West Ham boss David Moyes also has a long-standing interest in midfielder Ross Barkley,” The Mirror claims.
Hammers also linked with Batshuayi – AGAIN
“The Scot confirmed Mirror Sport’s story in January that he is keen on the England midfielder he managed at Everton before Barkley’s move to London.
“The Hammers also have a long-standing interest in striker Michy Batshuayi but the Belgian also has admirers at Newcastle and Crystal Palace.”
West Ham need another central midfielder in the summer.
Captain Mark Noble has told the club he can no longer be relied upon week-in, week-out in the heart of the team and urged the owners to sign younger players (talkSPORT).
Both players fit Moyes’s plan to build young West Ham
Flop Carlos Sanchez will depart this summer. That leaves just Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek – if signed permanently – and injury-prone Jack Wilshere as central midfield options.
Manuel Lanzini has been on the wane for some time and Barkley would be an excellent addition.
Chelsea’s valuation of the player will be key. And whether West Ham can make the deal happen remains to be seen.
Batshuayi famously rejected West Ham in favour of a move to Chelsea back in 2016.
The Hammers had a £31million bid accepted by Marseille (The Sun). But the Belgian striker turned down West Ham’s advances and moved to London rivals Chelsea instead.
Claret & Hugh has claimed West Ham have prioritised securing a strike partner for Sebastien Haller in the next window.
