Gold, fellow owner David Sullivan and vice-chairman Karren Brady were once again the subject of protests from West Ham fans last season.
A large section of Hammers supporters have been calling for Gold and Sullivan to sell up.
The unpopular trio marked 10 years at West Ham earlier this year.
Gold breaks five month Twitter silence
Instead of celebrating, they were fending off growing unrest from fans.
The global health crisis put a halt to the physical protests.
But the sentiment remains.
Gold, a prolific Twitter user before the protests, has been notable by his absence from the social media platform over the last five months.
The West Ham co-owner has nearly 200,000 followers on Twitter.
And he surprised West Ham fans when he broke his silence on Friday morning.
Is post a hint cash-strapped West Ham will look to youth?
Gold simply tweeted a picture of three West Ham academy graduates Grady Diangana, Conor Coventry and Ben Johnson in pre-season training.
Many West Ham fans have taken the post to be a hint that the Hammers will look to their homegrown players instead of the transfer market this summer.
David Moyes has been told he must sell to buy if he wants to make any signings (Claret & Hugh).
But offloading highly-paid, underperforming players is easier said than done.
Only Albian Ajeti has been sold thus far, for £5m to Celtic.
And that money could be swallowed up to finally pay the May installment due to Eintracht Frankfurt for Sebastien Haller.
Transfer outlook bleak for Moyes
As a result West Ham’s transfer hopes look bleak.
Diangana is expected to be a big part of West Ham’s plans this season after shining on loan at West Brom.
Ben Johnson performed brilliantly as West Ham secured Premier League survival after the restart.
And Conor Coventry could be a central midfield option if he impresses Moyes in pre-season.
