'Contemptuous offer' - West Ham fans incredulous as insider reveals Manchester United's plan to swap Phil Jones for Issa Diop

According to reliable West Ham insider EXWHUEmployee, Manchester United wanted to swap Phil Jones for Issa Diop. Over the weekend, Man United were linked with a £45m plus a player move for West Ham star Diop, according to Sky Sports News.

And EXWHUEmployee has revealed that the player in mind was Jones. The Hammers insider said: “I believe it was Phil Jones but I think they were open to any centre back really.”

Diop impressed for West Ham last season and he has caught Man United’s eye. The Red Devils shipped nearly as many goals as West Ham last term and want Diop to improve their defence.

The 22-year-old had a successful first season in England after moving from Toulouse last summer. And West Ham fans believe the Frenchman can kick on next term.

But Man United have different plans and want to tempt him to Old Trafford. With the lure of riches and Europa League football, as well as their status, Manchester United want to poach Diop.

However, West Ham fans reacted incredulously when hearing that Jones was the potential makeweight. The 27-year-old England international is notoriously sloppy at the back. Here are some tweets discussing this rumour.
