Reports in Spain last night claimed that Alaves could sign Roberto on a permanent deal from West Ham in the summer.
This is in spite on the fact that he is yet to make an appearance for them.
So on the face of it, that is great news for West Ham fans.
There is one slight problem, however. Alaves will only sign Roberto on a permanent deal at the end of the season if they are offered to chance to do so for free, according to a report from GasteizHoy.
Still good business
The 33-year-old stopper joined the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer of 2019. And he went on to be an absolute disaster signing for the east London outfit.
The Spaniard played 10 games for West Ham and let in 21 goals, keeping only one clean sheet in the process (Transfermarkt).
Roberto made two errors leading to goals for the opposition and made only one catch in eight Premier League games (premierleague.com).
Hammers fans just want him out of the club. As harsh as it may sound, the 33-year-old is clearly not good enough from the Premier League, and the sooner that he leaves the better.
Allowing him to leave for free would be a sensible move from West Ham. At one point it seemed as though the east London outfit would not be able to pay anyone to take the Spanish flop.
It does seem as though his time at the London Stadium is coming to an end, however.
And there will not be too many West Ham fans who will miss Roberto when he finally does leave.
