Chris Sutton has given his opinion on the Marko Arnautovic saga after the untimely announcement of a new and improved contract for the Austrian. Writing in the Daily Mail, Sutton did not hold back on his scathing take down of the player.

The former Blackburn striker didn’t mince his words and blamed Arnautovic for West Ham’s embarrassing FA Cup defeat against Wimbledon.

“Had Arnautovic not thrown his toys out of the pram this month in a bid to move to China, this result could have been very different,” Sutton said in the Daily Mail.

Sutton was also dismayed at the fact it had barely been 30 minutes after the cup upset before the club decided to announce Arnautovic’s contract extension.

“There must be West Ham fans who felt like vomiting watching that video of Marko Arnautovic.”

These are extremely strong words from the pundit who has obviously put himself in Hammers fan’ shoes after this debacle. It has been a tumultuous series of events that has eventually ended in Arnautovic staying put until at least the summer.

The defeat to Wimbledon now means West Ham have no silverware to aim for yet again. This is doubly frustrating as only Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City remain in the competition as top six clubs.

Sutton also agrees with this sentiment as he finished off his comments with the following: “If I was a fan, I’d be furious. The FA Cup is a competition the Hammers could have tried to win.”

West Ham fans are rightly angry at no longer being in the competition, but also at the manner in which they left it.

Losing 4-2 to a team bottom of the third division is unacceptable for the club and serious questions need to be raised over the attitude of the players heading into the game.
