West Ham are facing a battle with Crystal Palace for Gabriel Barbosa’s signature, according to a report from Italian media outlet Passione Inter.
The Inter Milan-owned striker is currently on loan with Flamengo, and he has been on fire in Brazil.
Affectionately known as ‘Gabigol’, the 23-year-old has racked up 23 goals in 28 outings for Flamengo.
He seems to have the whole package, but where next for Barbosa?
If it’s a toss up between West Ham and Palace, it should be an easy decision to make for the South American.
Whilst the Eagles have made a fine start to their Premier League campaign, they are not in the same league as the Hammers in terms of stature.
West Ham have real ambition, and with their stadium, players and facilities, it would not be unreasonable to think that they could be playing Champions League football within the next three years or so.
If Barbosa has real ambition, choosing the Hammers over Palace should be a really simple, straightforward choice.
The Inter ace has the potential to go on and become one of the world’s best strikers. And the London Stadium could be the perfect place for him to flourish.
Without sounding disrespectful to Palace, the Brazilian could and should be aiming higher than the south Londoners.
West Ham is the perfect club for Gabigol. And they might just be able to achieve great things together.
