A stunning new claim that Chelsea are ‘in talks’ with West Ham about a loan deal for a brand new signing may not be as far fetched as it seems.

Chelsea have been chasing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen for over a year now and West Ham may be beneficiaries in the short-term.

Osimhen was left out of Napoli’s Coppa Italia squad on Saturday and it has been confirmed he is demanding to leave.

Chelsea are said to be battling the likes of Arsenal for the Nigerian’s signature and West Ham could be about to play a supporting role.

West Ham are in the midst of a stunning transfer window under technical director Tim Steidten – who came close to joining Chelsea before arriving at the London Stadium.

Jean-Clair Todibo became West Ham’s seventh signing of the summer on Saturday and will – according to widespread reports – be followed by Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The Hammers are not done there, though. A top spokesman inside West Ham confirmed to Hammers News that the club is still working on several deals.

A number of West Ham players have been made available for transfer.

Chelsea ‘in talks’ with West Ham about loan for new signing

That is also the case at Chelsea, with West Ham interested in signing their outcast defender Trevoh Chalobah.

But as Todd Boehly and co look to bring Osimhen to Stamford Bridge, an imminent new arrival could be sent straight out on loan to West Ham.

West Ham had been carefully working on a plan to sign Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion this summer.

New Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui made signing his fellow Spaniard a top priority.

He reportedly wanted to build his new-look side around towering striker Omorodion, who is far from the finished article but boasts huge potential.

West Ham looked like they were one step away from getting the pacy but raw forward.

But there was a gap in valuation between West Ham and Atletico.

When Atleti rejected West Ham’s first approach, Omorodion changed his agent and released a cryptic statement about his future.

It was reported the Hammers were going back in with another offer.

But then Chelsea bulldozed their way into the deal and essentially put an end to any hopes West Ham had of signing the 20-year-old, who has just won Olympic gold with Spain.

Shock claim may have legs after Lopetegui push to sign Spaniard

The signing of Omorodion, who was loaned out by Atletico as soon as they signed him last season, is expected to be announced imminently and it has raised eyebrows.

Many have questioned where he will fit in and whether he will get any game time as part of Chelsea’s ridiculously bloated squad.

Well it seems he could end up at West Ham after all if a shocking new claim is true.

Chelsea are said to be ‘in talks’ with West Ham about a loan deal for their brand new signing and it could have legs.

TopSkills Sports UK says it has exclusive information that Chelsea are currently talking to West Ham about the possibility of loaning new signing Omorodion to them when he arrives.

The Blues are clearly aware of West Ham and Lopetegui’s interest having gazumped them to the Spaniard.

West Ham went on to sign Niclas Fullkrug instead as a short-term fix for their forward options.

The Hammers now have serious quality and competition across their squad apart from up front.

Fullkrug turns 32 this season and Michail Antonio will be 35.

The shock claim states Omorodion will be immediately loaned out by Chelsea along with fellow summer signing Marc Guiu.

Osimhen for now and Omorodion for future at Chelsea?

Omorodion is clearly a long-term project for Chelsea.

But the club want to do a fast deal with Napoli for Romelu Lukaku and then sign Osimhen as their proven, top level new striker.

At first this claim seems somewhat far fetched. But it could have legs given West Ham’s interest in a player Lopetegui rates highly, their lack of pace and depth up top and Chelsea wanting to harvest young talent.

There has been talk the Hammers could sign 20-year-old Jhon Duran from Villa as well as Fullkrug. Especially if Danny Ings or Antonio move on.

Perhaps now the Hammers could land one of their original targets instead but in a rather unexpected loan deal.
