A breaking Man City transfer move is brilliant news for West Ham in their reported bid to sign rapid left-back Borna Sosa.

Both West Ham and Manchester City are pushing to sign a left-back this summer.

The Hammers have missed out on a number of alleged targets including David Raum and Destiny Udogie while Man City were beaten to Marc Cucurella by Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola and David Moyes have been linked with a mutual interest in Croatian left-back Borna Sosa at Stuttgart.

This morning it was claimed that West Ham are leading Man City in the race to sign Sosa.

According to Croatian publication Index, the Hammers are in pole position to sign Sosa ahead of Manchester City.

Given the obvious allure of joining the defending Premier League champions, that story simply does not wash with West Ham fans who are well aware of the club’s place in the football food chain.

But now a breaking Man City transfer move is surely brilliant news for West Ham in their bid to sign Sosa.

Because the likes of Sky Sports are claiming City have moved to try and sign Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro instead.

“Manchester City are keen on Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro,” Sky Sports reports as breaking news this afternoon.

“The 28-year-old Portugal international is one of several potential first-team options the club are looking into.

“One source has told Sky Sports News that Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa is also on City’s list. But another source has indicated he is not currently under consideration.

“City are also closing in on the signing of Anderlecht left-back Sergio Gomez. Talks are at an advanced stage but City are yet to put in their formal offer to the Belgian club.”

If Moyes really is pushing to sign Sosa then this is fantastic news for West Ham.

With Man City out of the picture, the path looks clear for the Hammers to try and get a deal done with Stuttgart for the 24-year-old.

It is claimed that Stuttgart are already searching for a replacement and will sell Sosa for around £17 million.

The Croatia international is a top-class left-back and can also operate as a left wing-back.

Sosa would be a serious upgrade on Aaron Cresswell and is incredibly quick.

In fact, he recently told the Bundesliga’s official website that he has been the fastest player in every single team he has ever played for.
