Brazilian journalist Gustavo Henrique has repeated claims that West Ham will sign Gustavo Cuellar. He posted a video on Twitter reiterating that Cuellar was West Ham bound.

Henrique previously broke the news on Radio Globo. He claimed the Flamengo midfielder will join West Ham for €30m (roughly £26.5m). And now, he continues to link Cuellar with a move to East London.

The Radio Globo journalist predicts that Cuellar will leave after the Copa America. And West Ham will reportedly be his next destination after a spell in Rio de Janeiro.

On first glance, these transfer stories do make sense. The Colombia international fits the bill as a tough-tackling and tenacious central midfielder. This is exactly the type of midfielder Manuel Pellegrini wants this summer.

However, he has only played five times for his country and has never played outside of South America. Furthermore, this would be a major risk for the Hammers because of work permit issues. And reliable West Ham insider EXWHUEmployee shared this concern.

On Twitter, EXWHUEmployee said: “I’ve never heard of him and I’m not sure the club even have. I doubt he would even get a work permit.”

But despite the lack of widespread coverage for this report and EXWHUEmployee’s dismissal, Henrique has resurfaced these rumours. Could the 26-year-old join in a surprise move?
