According to a report from the Daily Mail, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is weighing up exercising a £12.8 million buy-back option that would see alleged West Ham target Jeremie Boga return to Stamford Bridge.

Italian media outlet Area Napoli claimed earlier this year that the Hammers were keen to sign Boga.

The 23-year-old left Chelsea for Sassuolo in 2013 for just £3 million, according to the Independent. And he has gone on to rack up 11 goals and five assists in 52 games for the Serie A outfit (Transfermarkt).

In 24 Serie A outings for Serie A this season, Boga has averaged 4.4 dribbles, 1 key pass and 1.9 shots per game. The Ivorian has also been fouled 1.8 times per game on average in those outings. (Who Scored).

The striker is far from prolific, but he does contribute outside of just scoring goals. And the former Chelsea man possesses plenty of pace.

Even though Chelsea reportedly have an option to buy Boga back for £12.8 million, Area Napoli claims that it will cost any other club around £21 million if they want to sign the Ivorian.

The chance to sign the Sassuolo hitman might be taken out of West Ham’s hands.

If Chelsea do decide to trigger their buy-back option, there will be only one place Boga will be playing his football next season.

And unfortunately for the Hammers, it won’t be the London Stadium.
