Signing a top-class striker is quite clearly one of the main priorities for West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui this summer.
Julen Lopetegui apparently still has big plans for Michail Antonio, but the West Ham boss surely cannot be planning to utilise the 34-year-old as anything other than a squad player.
The Spaniard is said to be prioritising the addition of a proven centre-forward this summer, and it’s little wonder as to why.
Antonio has been great for us over the past nine years, but he’s well past his best now, and he cannot be our number one striker heading into the new season.
West Ham haven’t had much luck with signing strikers over the past few years – certainly under David Moyes’s rein.
Hopefully things will be different under Lopetegui though, and the latest striker move he has lined up can’t possibly go wrong…surely it can’t!

Julen Lopetegui can secure £25m striker signing on the cheap
So it seems like Youssef En-Nesyri could well be East London bound this summer.
Described by the Daily Mail as ‘incredible’, En-Nesyri is the perfect fit for West Ham.
It was claimed just yesterday that Sevilla are demanding £25 million for the Morocco international.
However, Estadio Deportivo now suggest that due to the La Liga side’s financial problems, they will be willing to sell the 27-year-old for a lot less than that amount.
Quite what that fee will be remains to be seen, but West Ham should push ahead to sign the striker regardless.
En-Nesyri has bagged 73 goals in 194 appearances for Sevilla (Transfermarkt) – better than a goal every three games.
He has an impressive 113 goals for club and country to his name – a very decent return considering that he’s only 27.
The Moroccan is hard-working, incredibly strong in the air, is always willing to run the channels and is a very good finisher.
Julen Lopetegui absolutely cannot allow the summer window to pass without making a top-class striker signing for West Ham.
And if the Spaniard can bring En-Nesyri to the London Stadium, the Hammers will be in a strong position heading into the new season.
