West Ham United’s January transfer window is beginning to seriously heat up.

The transfer news is coming thick and fast now, although worryingly, most of the rumours are concerning potential outgoings.

Nuno Espirito Santo has already sanctioned numerous exits and now Lucas Paqueta and Guido Rodriguez have just joined the likes of Luis Guilherme, Niclas Fullkrug and Andy Irving out the exit door.

James Ward-Prowse is closing in on a move to Burnley as well.

West Ham did all they could but Lucas Paqueta STILL wanted out! 😡

It’s about time the West Ham fans were given some positive transfer news.

The good news is that the Hammers appear to be leading the race to sign a proven centre-back from one of their fiercest Premier League rivals.

West Ham now in pole position to sign Frenchman from London rivals

It’s no secret that central defence is the area where West Ham need to strengthen most over the next five days.

Nuno clearly agrees with that notion, according to the latest report coming out of Italy.

According to a report from Quotidiano Sportivo, West Ham currently have the ‘upper hand’ over Fiorentina in the race to sign Axel Disasi from Chelsea before the January transfer window.

West Ham have been heavily linked with Disasi throughout the entire January transfer window.

Disasi, 27, has never quite lived up to expectations at Chelsea but still, he will be a major upgrade on Max Kilman.

It could also be argued that he’s on another level to Konstantinos Mavropanos, in spite of the Greece international’s recent resurgence in form.

It’s also worth noting that Disasi has been capped five times by the French national team.

You simply don’t play for France if you’re not a good centre-back.

Axel Disasi would be a very useful signing for West Ham

The former Monaco man certainly has plenty of qualities that West Ham lack right now.

Can you work out the missing trio? 🤔

Who was in goal? Which striker scored? And who played out of position in midfield?

Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Disasi is very strong in the air and he possesses impressive pace as well.

His defensive positioning can be questionable at times, but his pace often makes up for that.

With a serious point to prove that he’s good enough to play in the Premier League, Disasi will be extremely hungry to succeed at West Ham.

If West Ham manage to secure a deal for the Chelsea defender before the January transfer window closes, they will be making a smart move.
