West Ham United have received a huge boost today with Le Buteur reporting that Real Betis ace Aissa Mandi wants to move to the Premier League.
El Desmarque claimed recently that Hammers boss David Moyes wants to bring the 29-year-old Real Betis defender to the London Stadium in the summer.
The 59-capped Algeria international is a top class centre-back.
Mandi has scored three goals in 19 La Liga games this season. In those outings, the 29-year-old has averaged 0.8 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 2.9 clearances per game. He has also won an average of 1.6 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).
The Algerian has made 53.2 passes per game on average and has a hugely impressive completion rate of 90.1% (Who Scored).
His quality is clear and obvious for everyone to see. Liverpool want to sign him as well after all (Mirror).
Mandi was recently valued at around £18 million (Le Buteur). He is out of contract with Betis in the summer, however.
West Ham could sign Aissa Mandi for absolutely nothing
If the 29-year-old fails to agree terms on a new deal with the La Liga outfit, West Ham could pick him up on a free transfer.
And what an incredible coup that would be for the Hammers.
Mandi seems to be ideally suited to the Premier League. He is a tenacious tackler, is strong in the air and relishes the physical battles.
He would be a really useful addition for West Ham this summer.
And the fact that he wants to move to the Premier League should stand us in great stead.
The potential to sign him on a free transfer will undoubtedly appeal to the Hammers owners as well.
