Jack Wilshere produced another exceptional performance in West Ham’s final pre-season game of summer 2019. With less than a week until the new season kicks off, West Ham faced Athletic Bilbao at The London Stadium.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw after West Ham fell behind to Bilbao’s two early goals. Manuel Lanzini scored his third goal in three games and Wilshere levelled things up for West Ham, who eventually lost on penalties in this tie.

Wilshere has been returning to full fitness over the course of the season break and he capped a fine pre-season with a goal. The former Arsenal midfielder tucked the ball into the bottom corner with a first-time low left-footed shot after good work from new man Sebastien Haller.

West Ham fans are hoping that Wilshere remains fit for the upcoming season. When fit, the 27-year-old is one of West Ham’s most effective players and he has the ability to push the team up the league table.

Unfortunately, last season was another frustrating campaign for Wilshere. The England midfielder’s entire career has been dogged with injury problems and he was limited to less than 10 games in claret and blue in his debut season in East London.

Here are some tweets capturing how West Ham fans rated Wilshere’s performance against Bilbao.
