Barcelona youngster Marc Casado has allegedly rejected the chance to join West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo who claim that the Hammers tried to tempt the 18-year-old into a move to the London Stadium by offering him a far superior package to what Barcelona had on the table.

Unfortunately for us though, Casado has decided to remain with the Catalan giants.

The teenager is a defensive midfielder by trade and after being educated at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, it is no surprise that he possesses exceptional technique.

Whilst it is a shame that West Ham have missed out on Casado, it’s actually very nice to know that we are looking into deals for these kind of players.

Marc Casado has rejected West Ham move

Mundo Deportivo reckons that Hammers boss David Moyes tried to bring the teenage midfield sensation to the London Stadium this summer.

The Spanish publication allege that West Ham actually offered Casado a ‘far superior’ package to what Barcelona did.

In spite of that, the 18-year-old chose to stay at the Camp Nou.

That’s gutting for the Hammers because Casado really does seem to be a very special talent indeed.

With Declan Rice’s long-term future at the London Stadium in doubt, signing a top-class, young defensive midfielder over the course of the next 12 months will be absolutely key for Moyes.

Casado would have been a really exciting addition for West Ham. He has all of the attributes needed to go on and become a star in the game.

The 18-year-old has a similar playing style to Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets.

If he goes on to be even half as good as the 34-year-old Barca star, he will have an incredible career in the game.

And it’s a real shame that West Ham have missed out on the signing of Marc Casado.

Perhaps this is one that we can revisit again in the future if he struggles for regular first-team football at the Camp Nou.
