Turkish Football claimed last week that West Ham are interested in signing Galatasaray defender Marcao in the summer.
But in what is a blow for the Hammers, the Brazilian has suggested that he has absolutely no intention of leaving the Turkish giants.
West Ham will need to bolster their central defensive ranks in the summer. And the Brazilian centre-back might just have been a very useful addition for them.
Stats
The 23-year-old has managed to win an average of 2.5 aerial duals in 22 league games for Gala this season (Who Scored).
During those outings, Marcao has averaged 1.7 tackles, 1.6 interceptions, 3.4 clearances and 0.7 blocks per game (Who Scored).
Those stats are fairly impressive. But it seems as though the Hammers might miss out on the Gala ace.
The 23-year-old told Turkish media outlet Fotomac that he has no intentions of leaving the Super Lig outfit in the summer:
“I am very happy at Galatasaray. Currently, the only thought is to win our remaining games and become champions. I have learned a lot from Fatih Terim, he has been teaching me to help my development. Galatasaray is my home and I have no intention of leaving unless they send me.”
Whether West Ham will still attempt to prise him away from Galatasaray, however, remains to be seen.
Judging by Marcao’s recent comments though, the Hammers will have to offer the Brazilian a very lucrative deal, if they are to have any chance of bringing him to the London Stadium in the summer.
