West Ham could now face competition from Newcastle for the signature of Sao Paulo ace Pablo Maia this summer.

Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has claimed that Newcastle are ready to move in for West Ham transfer target Pablo Maia, via his YouTube channel.

The East London outfit have been constantly linked with a move to sign the Brazilian starlet over the past year or so, and most recently just last month.

Newcastle have already been a problem for the Hammers this season. Eddie Howe poached talented youngster Harrison Ashby from the London Stadium for a nominal fee.

And it seems as though the Magpies could be set to beat us to the punch in the race for another incredibly talented youngster…

West Ham face Newcastle competition for Pablo Maia

David Moyes will have his work cut out if he is to sign the young central midfielder this summer, with the Toon on the hunt for him as well according to Jorge Nicola.

He is a sensational young talent, and signing him should be a real priority for Moyes this summer.

Sao Paulo allegedly want around £9.5 million for Pablo Maia (Bolavip Brasil). That seems like really good value to me.

He really is an outstanding player with massive potential, and will be a hugely exciting addition for whichever club wins the race for his signature.

Maia is a defensive midfielder and is extremely tenacious in the tackle. He has stamina, energy and dynamism in abundance and has really impressive technical ability as well – as you would expect for a Brazilian.

For £9.5 million, I really don’t think West Ham or Newcastle can go wrong by signing Pablo Maia this summer.

Let’s hope that the Hammers manage to pull this one out the bag because I truly believe that the young Brazilian could be a really big player for us.

Still, the Toon’s interest in signing Maia is certainly an unwelcome inconvenience for us.
