Arsenal are reportedly eyeing ‘unstoppable’ Declan Rice alternative in what is a big boost for West Ham United.

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport (print edition January 8th, page 21), Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is keen to bring Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to the Emirates.

That is good news for the Hammers, with the Gunners apparently bang in the race to prise Declan Rice away from the London Stadium in the summer.

The 23-year-old West Ham central midfielder is seemingly set to leave the London Stadium at the end of this season, but David Moyes will still be holding out feint hope that he can keep him at the club.

Declan Rice is a sensational footballer, and he undoubtedly should be playing at the very highest level. In my opinion, we won’t see him in a West Ham shirt again beyond the end of this season.

Arsenal might not be the club that he ends up joining though…

Arsenal have Declan Rice alternative lined up

The Gunners may well not sign the 23-year-old West Ham star this summer. That’s not because they’re not in Dec’s league but more because they are allegedly eyeing up a top-class alternative to the Hammers star.

Corriere dello Sport (print edition January 8th, page 21) reckon that Lazio superstar Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is a transfer target for Arsenal.

In fact, it is suggested by the Italian website that the north London outfit are currently in discussions with the player’s agent regarding a potential transfer.

The 27-year-old is a truly top tier talent, and the Gunners definitely won’t be signing him AND Rice in the summer.

There will obviously be a hotly contested race for Dec’s signature, but the less clubs interested in signing him the better as far as I’m concerned!

Football Italia recently described the Lazio midfielder as an ‘unstoppable’ player. Meanwhile, The Laziali label him as ‘world-class’.

Milinkovic-Savic is an absolute powerhouse, and has all of the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.

The Serbia international is very similar to Rice, but a lot better going forward. It would be no surprise whatsoever to me to see Arteta bring the Lazio midfielder to the Emirates in the summer.

And if the 27-year-old really is viewed as a Declan Rice alternative by Arsenal, that can only be really good news for West Ham.
