Arsenal are said to be in the race to sign alleged West Ham target Sander Berge from Sheffield United this summer according to The Star.
Central midfield is an area where the Scot really needs to strengthen. More competition and cover is required for Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
Sander Berge would be the absolute ideal addition for West Ham. There is a huge problem for Moyes, however.
Arsenal want him as well. And with the Gunners desperate to get back to the top, it seems as though they are going hard in the transfer market this summer.
Arsenal to blow West Ham out the water in Sander Berge race?
The Gunners have vastly superior financial muscle than the Hammers.
And considering the fact that The Star are claiming Sheffield United want around £35 million for the 24-capped Norway international, Arsenal will be far better placed to sign him than West Ham are.
Missing out on Berge would be real shame. He is absolutely perfect for David Moyes’s setup at the London Stadium.
The Norwegian is a tenacious tackler, has bundles off energy and is very cool and composed in possession.
£35 million will be way too much for West Ham to splash out on one player this summer, however.
And as far as we’re concerned, Arsenal have a huge advantage over us in the race for Berge’s signature.
