According to a report from French media outlet Foot Mercato, West Ham are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa.
The 13-capped France international would be an absolutely incredible signing for the Hammers, but there is a problem.
Tottenham and Manchester United are also keen on the 27-year-old.
So it seems as though West Ham could be fighting a losing battle.
The Hammers have problems in the left-back department. Aaron Cresswell is solid yet not spectacular, and he is also unreliable from a fitness perspective.
Arthur Masuaku, meanwhile, is incredibly inconsistent, and the jury is still out on the Democratic Republic of Congo international.
Kurzawa would undoubtedly be an upgrade of both of those players. He would also be available on a free transfer in the summer. And that would be a huge bonus.
The pull of joining either Spurs or United, however, might just be too hard for the PSG star to resist.
West Ham could offer him guaranteed regular first-team football, of course. And much might depend on how well they do this season, regarding their ability to tempt the 27-year-old Frenchman into moving to the London Stadium.
The PSG ace still has five or six years left playing at the highest level, and he would be a truly exceptional addition for the Hammers.
With Tottenham and Manchester United in the hunt too, however, it seems highly unlikely that the Frenchman will be plying his trade in east London next season.
