West Ham target Aaron Boupendza is seemingly set to make a move from Hatayspor.
Unfortunately for the Hammers fans, however, his destination won’t be the London Stadium.
David Moyes wanted to bring the 25-year-old hitman to West Ham this summer according to according to a report from Fanatik.
And considering our finances, Boupendza would have been a very wise addition.
He was available for just £7 million this summer (Fanatik). The striker would have been a bargain for that fee.
Boupendza scored 22 goals in 36 league games last season (Transfermarkt).
West Ham to miss out on Boupendza
Hatayspor coach Ömer Erdoğan claimed yesterday that the 25-year-old forward had been sold to a club abroad.
Then Turkish football journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu suggested that the Gabon international is en route to Al Arabi.
Would Boupendza have been Moyes’s first choice signing? No.
Would he have been a useful addition to provide cover for Michail Antonio at a reasonable cost? Definitely yes.
Who knows, perhaps Moyes and the West Ham owners have a surprise up their sleeves.
It is still frustrating to see many of our alleged transfer targets move to other clubs as we are left stranding still, however.
