West Ham wanted to sign £18 million-rated Udinese midfielder Seko Fofana in January, according to a report from respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Obviously, that move failed to materialise. But it would be reasonable to assume that the Ivory Coast midfielder is still on the Hammers’ radar.
If that is the case, Tutto Udinese’s latest report will be of interest to the east London outfit.
The Italian publication claims that Fofana is set to leave Udinese in the summer.
The 24-year-old is a box-to-box midfielder by trade.
He is strong, athletic and is exactly the kind of player West Ham need.
Fofana has racked up one goal and five assists in 24 games for Udinese this season (Transfermarkt).
In 21 Serie A outings, the Ivorian has averaged 2.3 dribbles and 1.4 key passes per game. He averages 30 passes per game, with an incredibly impressive completion rate of 87.4% (Who Scored).
The Hammers will surely be looking to bolster their central midfield department in the summer, regardless of whether or not they make Tomas Soucek’s move from Slavia Prague a permanent one.
And Fofana could be exactly what they need. Especially for £18 million.
Whether West Ham will move for the Ivorian in the summer, however, remains to be seen.
