West Ham United have been given a major boost in their hopes of signing AC Milan defensive midfielder Franck Kessie in January.

West Ham have been regularly linked with Kessie since the summer.

In the end the Hammers ended up spending a paltry £25million in that window and it has showed on the pitch.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side look short all over the pitch and are lacking in key areas.

One of those areas is midfield where Pellegrini’s team lack athleticism, pace and dynamism.

West Ham linked with Kessie

West Ham fans have been encouraged by reports linking them with powerful all-action midfielder Kessie.

The 22-year-old faces an uncertain future at the San Siro. His ability is not in question, but Milan need to balance the books to satisfy FFP regulations and he is one of their more saleable assets.

According to Italian journalist Carlo Pellegatti the Hammers have been leading the race to sign the powerful Ivorian who chips in with his fair share of goals too.

Hammers can have powerful midfielder if they meet Milan’s £25m valuation – report

And West Ham will be hugely encouraged after a new report from Milan News (as also reported by One Football) revealed Milan will sell Kessie in January as long as his £25million valuation is met.

The report names Napoli and West Ham as frontrunners but also mentions potential interest from Fiorentina and Wolves.

West Ham could have done with a player like Kessie in their side at Wolves last night.

Pellegrini’s side were one-paced and robotic in their approach to the game as they were overrun in midfield.

Over to Sullivan and Gold to make it happen

Kessie would bring everything West Ham need and more.

According to Milan News the European giants have given Kessie’s departure the green light.

Now it is over to Hammers owners David Sullivan and David Gold to spend the money to strengthen.

The unpopular duo should have done that in the summer. But they only saw fit to bring in two players to challenge for starting spots.
