It’s such a prestige month in the world of football, which concludes with the obligatory Jim White Day commonly known as Transfer Deadline Day. This day brings out all the rumours on Twitter and the far fetched reports where someone’s uncle’s brother’s sister’s aunt knows who is signing for us and feels the need to start off some pointless rumour!
First of all, the players we’ve brought in starting with Carlton Cole, who I don’t understand why we let go in the first place. I’m not a huge Cole fan but he has played well since coming back and deserves his 18 month contract. He is a decent squad player! Up next, “Relegation” Roger Johnson! This has to be one of the worst signings I have witnessed in a while. I would be gobsmacked if he ever wears the shirt again. With Reid back from injury, I don’t see him even getting on the bench. Waste of time!
However, it is not all doom and gloom as we managed to bring in two Italian internationals, the first being AC’s understudy in Marco Borriello, who I don’t know too much about but hear good things of. Let’s be honest, he can’t be worse than Maiga, who has moved to QPR on loan. Yes, his goal against Spurs will always be his highlight for us, but he is just not good enough! The other Italian is Antonio Nocerino, who I have seen play for AC Milan and I like the guy. I think his passion along with his composure on the ball will be key for us alongside Noble and Nolan. I am shocked we managed to get him in, so we are lucky Milan changed their manager to Clarence Seedorf and brought in Essien from Chelsea. Good signing in my opinion and we will prosper from him in the team.
We brought in a young youth striker is Gordon who won’t get near the first team this season and also Razak who I don’t think will either. So the only other play we brought in was Armero, who I hear really good things about. I hope this works well for us as we have been desperate for a decent left back especially as I hear Rat has been released by mutual consent. I didn’t mind Rat, but I’m confident the Columbian will be a decent loan.
As we brought 5 first team players in but didn’t spend a penny, I do wonder if the board are losing faith in Big Sam’s business activity. I just have a feeling he won’t be at Upton Park come next August even if we stay up! I think with Reid coming back that will be the best signing we could of asked for. And now with all our players back now, Sam has no excuses! I just hope we capitalise on the favourable games we have this month.I believe our defence with be the key to us staying up.
So let’s cheer the boys on because we’re always blowing bubbles. Come on you irons!
