‘A co-ordinated strategy’ – David Sullivan confidant drops exciting West Ham transfer update

A really exciting West Ham United transfer update has just dropped.

West Ham have to get some signings over the line before the January transfer window slams shut, with deadline day now just 48 hours away.

Graham Potter will be fully aware of the need for some top quality new signings, and with Kyle Macaulay at the club, the Hammers’ transfer business is now set to spark into life.

The 49-year-old is in desperate need of reinforcements at the London Stadium.

With Niclas Fullkrug, Michail Antonio and Jean-Clair Todibo all out with long-term injuries, Potter absolutely has to bring in some new faces.

If he is to guide us to a successful second half of the season, he needs to add some real quality to the current group of players.

An thankfully, it seems like the club are doing everything in their power to make that happen for the gaffer.

So it seems like things are changing at the London Stadium.

Information from the so-called ‘ITK’s’ seems to be drying up.

And that is apparently very good news indeed when it comes to transfers.

Claret and Hugh, one of David Sullivan’s most trusted confidants, has come out and said it’s radio silent at West Ham right now.

And questions being asked about potential incomings are being batted away.

That is said to be a very good thing, because the leaks seem to have dried up.

This is my favourite bit from C&H’s report:

A concerted, co-ordinated strategy to give nothing away certainly hints at activity behind the scenes.

The Hammers transfer recruitment team are believed to be working very hard behind closed doors to get one or two deals done before the window slams shut.

West Ham need signings before deadline day

Potter needs to bring in at least two new players before the window slams shut in my opinion.

The Hammers should be looking to sign a new striker and a box-to-box central midfielder.

In an ideal world, Potter would bring a top-class centre-back to the London Stadium as well, but that one may well have to wait until the summer.

The squad at Potter’s disposal right now quite simply isn’t good enough.

That’s such a frustrating thing to say, given David Moyes and Julen Lopetegui both attempt rebuilds in 2022 and 2024 respectively.

A lot of money has been wasted at the London Stadium, there are no two ways about that.

However, with Potter working closely with Macaulay now, I expect West Ham’s transfer strategy to be a lot more cohesive.

Hopefully that starts immediately, and the Hammers make a couple of exciting signings before deadline day.
