West Ham United are believed to be in a strong position to sign an established international in the summer transfer window.

Julen Lopetegui is on the hunt for more reinforcements at West Ham in the summer transfer window, as he looks to take us to another level.

The Hammers head coach has already signed Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme, towering centre-back Max Kilman and experienced goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.

He’s said to be chasing a bare minimum of six new signings this summer, so that means we can expect at least three more new arrivals.

I expect him to bring at least four or five more players to the London Stadium this summer, including one more top-class central defender.

West Ham shipped 74 Premier League goals last season, so it’s no surprise that Lopetegui is so desperate to bolster his defensive ranks.

And now it seems like the door will be wide open for the Hammers chief to bring in a proven defender for a really reasonable fee this summer…

While Lopetegui has made a solid start to the summer window, he definitely needs to make more new signings before the Premier League season starts.

And it seems like the West Ham head coach has just been given a really big boost in his pursuit of one player in particular.

According to a report from 365 Scores, Johan Vasquez is keen to join the Hammers from Genoa this summer.

The 25-year-old has already rejected moves to Saudi, USA and Mexico in order to remain in Europe, so that’s a very good sign about his mentality.

According to Football Italia, he could be available for as little as £8.5 million this summer – a real bargain in this day and age.

He’s an incredibly strong centre-back, and plays with typical Mexican tenacity and aggression, much like our very own Edson Alvarez.

The Genoa centre-back is an absolute warrior who possess decent pace and always reads the game very well indeed.

I believe he possesses the ideal attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.

All I would say is that Johan Vasquez is left-footed, and Lopetegui really needs to sign a right-footed central defender this summer.

The Hammers already have Max Kilman as our left-sided centre-back, so unless the Mexico international is being signed as backup for the former Wolves man, I’m not sure he will joining West Ham this summer.
