West Ham have an injury crisis and re-signing Joao Mario on loan could be a potential solution.

With Jack Wilshere, Manuel Lanzini, Pedro Obiang and Carlos Sanchez all out injured, West Ham are depleted in midfield.

The only two central midfielders fit are Declan Rice and Mark Noble. And that is not ideal considering Manuel Pellegrini favours a 4-3-3 formation.

But the January transfer window is just around the corner. Therefore, Pellegrini can sort out a short-term fix.

Mario spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham. And the Portugal international impressed after a slow start to life in East London.

The creative midfielder scored twice in 13 league games. The 25-year-old also registered an assist.

West Ham fans have been discussing a return move for Mario on social media recently.

Here are some of the best tweets urging the club to make a move for him this January.
