24-year-old to leave West Ham in January to join European giants and it’s not Mohammed Kudus

One West Ham United player seems set to leave the club in the January transfer window.

The upcoming January transfer window will be a vitally important one for West Ham.

Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten failed with the summer rebuild in my opinion, with too many substandard players arriving at the London Stadium, such as Guido Rodriguez, Niclas Fullkrug and Luis Guilherme.

The Hammers cannot afford to exit the winter window without strengthening the squad.

However, all the talk at the moment is about a potential exit, with Mohammed Kudus on Arsenal’s radar.

The Ghanian seemed destined to leave West Ham. Whether that will be in January or the summer remains to be seen.

Right now though, it’s another Hammer who will almost certainly leave the club this winter.

West Ham exit on the cards for 24-year-old

There could be a lot of change at the London Stadium this winter.

As much as we need one or two top-class signings, there is a lot of deadwood that needs to be shifted as well.

And one of those players on the fringes of Lopetegui’s squad is apparently set to leave the club this winter.

According to a report from The Athletic, West Ham are prepared to let Andy Irving leave in January, with Celtic keen to sign him.

The 24-year-old has barely featured for the Hammers this season – just 60 minutes in all competitions in fact (Transfermarkt).

Irving was said to be impressing Lopetegui during pre-season, but he hasn’t kicked on since then unfortunately.

David Moyes brought Andy Irving to the London Stadium from from SK Austria Klagenfurt on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2023, and then immediately loaned him back to the Austrian club.

Sky Sports Austria claimed that the Hammers paid roughly £3 million to sign the 24-year-old.

Irving recently admitted that he actually had the chance to leave West Ham in the summer, but he remained at the London Stadium in the end.

Perhaps he should have left.

The Scot is a decent footballer, but he’s nowhere near the levels required to succeed in the Premier League.

The sooner he leaves the London Stadium the better it will be for all parties concerned in my opinion.

And it seems like Andy Irving could well leave West Ham to join Celtic when the January transfer window opens.
