It seems Sam Allardyce and his West Ham United squad are having trouble with the balancing act of attack and defence. Away from home, before the Norwich game, we had only conceded 1 goal, and that was from a penalty. We had also had problems scoring barring the freak result against Spurs.
It seems that if West Ham don’t go for the win, we manage to shut up shop, and get a clean sheet and a point. But as soon as we try and go for the win, we start conceding. The home games against Everton and Man City can verify this, and the Norwich game at the weekend is another example.
If we are to be successful, then we need to be able to get the right balance between going for a win, and then keeping it tight at the back as well. It sounds like I’m stating the obvious, but so many teams around us are doing exactly that. West Ham need to start winning ugly again, very much like last season. If we can get the balance between winning our home games, and picking up points on the road, then we’re close to being a regular top ten side. If our home form doesn’t pick up, then we are looking at a long season.
COME ON YOU IRONS!!
