West Ham had a week off during the international break but there was still plenty of transfer news emerging. Here are the latest stories as of Friday 29th March.
Players linked with West Ham
Five strikers have been linked with West Ham this week. The usual rumours of Serie A trio Edin Dzeko, Andrea Belotti and Duvan Zapata have all resurfaced.
Atalanta striker Zapata is another reported target for the Irons but they must stump up nearly £40m for his services (Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness).
West Ham are also reportedly interested in Belotti’s Torino team-mate Soualiho Meite (Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness). Spurs also want the French midfielder.
Two defenders have been mentioned. West Ham are battling Newcastle and Everton for £10m-rated Olympiacos left-back Leonardo Koutris, according to TEAMtalk. And Deportivo Alaves centre-back Guillermo Maripan is being ‘closely’ monitored, as per Sport via Sport Witness.
The Hammers have also been linked with Aston Villa star Jack Grealish (The Mirror). Tottenham lead the way for the 23-year-old midfielder, who has four goals and five assists to his name this season.
Holland youth international winger Daishawn Redan, who plays for Chelsea, is wanted by Everton, West Ham and Leicester City, as per Sport Bild via Sport Witness.
West Ham exit rumours
The most high-profile departure rumour is Declan Rice to Manchester United, as reported by The Sun. Man United want Rice as part of a triple swoop but his £40m price tag is surely wide of the mark.
Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Samir Nasri is a doubt for the Everton game (whufc.com). The 31-year-old Frenchman has a calf injury.
Andy Carroll is undergoing medical tests and Jack Wilshere is definitely ruled out of the Everton match on Saturday.
Several West Ham players were in action for their respective nations in both youth and senior football. Most notably, Declan Rice made his England debut, followed up by his full international debut as the Three Lions cruised to back-to-back victories.
Felipe Anderson played his second game for Brazil but Manuel Lanzini was not included in the match day squad for Argentina.
Javier Hernandez netted against Paraguay, who left Fabian Balbuena on the bench for that game and Marko Arnautovic scored twice for Austria.
Pedro Obiang also scored for Equatorial Guinea but youngster Kristijan Belic was sent off minutes into his debut for Serbia under-19s.
Fiorentina are unlikely to permanently sign Edimilson Fernandes, according to Corriere Fiorentina via Football Italia. The Switzerland international is on a season-long loan with an option to buy but he has not done enough to justify his €8m fee.
