West Ham’s main striker target is Maxi Gomez and that saga rumbles on. Celta Vigo now want interested clubs to start a bidding war for the 22-year-old, who is currently away at the Copa America with Uruguay (The London Evening Standard).

The Irons wisely have a contingency plan when it comes to strikers. Callum Wilson – the free-scoring Bournemouth and England striker – is a £35m target (The Sun).

Alexis Claude-Maurice is another target. But the 21-year-old Lorient striker would rather move to Borussia Monchengladbach (L’Equipe).

Real Betis hope to make West Ham’s chase easier. The Spanish club have offered Loren Moron, 25, to West Ham in a £35m deal. But he only scored six times last season and rejected West Ham in 2018 (The Daily Star).

Moving down the field, Real Salt Lake attacking midfielder Jefferson Savarino is being linked with West Ham and Newcastle. The 22-year-old is currently with Venezuela at the Copa America (Sky Sports News).

In central midfield, Joan Jordan remains a target. The SD Eibar midfielder reportedly prefers a move to Sevilla even though West Ham have a bid in (El Desmarque).

West Ham and Leicester both want John McGinn. Aston Villa plan to tie down the 24-year-old Scotland star, who scored their winning goal at Wembley (The Daily Mail).

The Hammers could also move for promising young centre-back Malang Sarr. Several clubs want the 20-year-old Frenchman, who plays for Nice in Ligue 1 (Nice-Matin).

The big news of the week was Manchester United’s interest in Issa Diop. The 22-year-old Frenchman is not for sale and West Ham have cheekily asked for Anthony Martial in return (The Independent).

Javier Hernandez could be on his way out of West Ham. The 31-year-old Mexican only has one year left on his deal and Galatasaray want to sign him (Sabah).

Galatasaray have also been linked with Grady Diangana. The left-footed midfielder enjoyed a breakthrough season at West Ham but could head to Turkey on loan (DHA).

West Ham’s forgotten man Jordan Hugill could be heading back to his old club Preston North End after just three games for the club (The Sun via HITC).

Other news

Josh Pask has found a new club after leaving West Ham. The 21-year-old centre-back has joined Coventry City on a three-year deal after being released by the Hammers.

And finally, new signing Pablo Fornals gave West Ham supporters a glimpse of what is to come. The 23-year-old Spaniard scored a stunning goal in the Euro U21 Championships against Belgium.
