West Ham have had yet another busy week in the transfer window. Things are hotting up and transfer deals are moving quickly. Here are the latest transfer rumours (as of Friday 14th June).
West Ham have completed the signing of Pablo Fornals. Mario Husillos rates the 23-year-old midfield playmaker highly. With two caps for Spain already, this could be a very exciting signing.
Fornals puts pen-to-paper on a five-year deal at West Ham with the option of a further season. The club’s official website confirmed he is West Ham’s second-most-expensive signing ever.
Players linked with West Ham
Despite Fornals joining, West Ham have been linked with a host of midfielders. Slovakia international Stanislas Lobotka of Celta Vigo was a target but West Ham dropped this interest to accelerate a move for Fornals (The Guardian).
West Ham have been in talks with Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson. The 24-year-old would cost West Ham in excess of £30m and Fornals’ arrival might put this deal on hold (Sky Sports News).
Meanwhile, the William Carvalho rumours have resurfaced. The Portugal midfielder was West Ham’s top target in 2017 but David Sullivan had a major dispute with Sporting CP officials after it failed to materialise. Now, the Hammers are back for the 27-year-old, who plays for Real Betis now (Estadio Deportivo).
Maxime Gonalons is another name linked with the Irons. The injury-prone Frenchman, 30, plays in holding midfield and will leave Roma (L’Equipe).
Two young midfielders have also been linked. Coventry City wonderkid Tom Bayliss is a target for West Ham and Aston Villa (print edition of The Sun on Sunday).
Motherwell midfielder Reece McAlear is another target. West Ham will go head-to-head with Leicester City for the Scotland U17 starlet (The Scottish Sun).
Maxi Gomez is back on West Ham’s radar. The 22-year-old Uruguay striker, who has scored 30 goals in the last two years, has been a long-term target (The Guardian).
West Ham also want Stuttgart centre-back Ozan Kabak, who won the Bundesliga rookie of the season award. The 19-year-old Turkey defender has a release clause of just over £13m after Stuttgart were relegated (The Guardian).
West Ham exit rumours
Reece Oxford should have completed his move to FC Augsburg by now. But the 20-year-old has baulked over the Bundesliga club’s refusal to insert a relegation release clause in his contract. Instead, the 6ft 3in centre-back could reunite with Slaven Bilic at West Brom or join Championship side Middlesbrough for £2m (The Telegraph).
Another Hammers youngster linked with an exit is Marcus Browne. Celtic, Rangers and Fulham want the 21-year-old midfielder, who impressed on loan at Oxford United last season, but Manuel Pellegrini wants to take a look at him in pre-season.
The Premier League fixtures have now been released. And West Ham will start with a home game against Manchester City (surprise surprise). The Hammers have now played the ‘top-six’ for six consecutive seasons.
West Ham also have an away game on Boxing Day for the fourth year running (Crystal Palace). And the final game of the season will be at home to Aston Villa.
