Tim Sherwood warned West Ham United not to sit back and let Arsenal dictate the game this afternoon, when speaking to Optus Sport on Premier League Productions.
The Hammers welcome the Gunners to the London Stadium in the three o’clock kick off this afternoon.
It is a massive game for both sides.
David Moyes and Mikel Arteta will both be desperate for all three points.
West Ham can move level on points with fourth placed Chelsea with a win whilst Arsenal can keep their top four hopes alive with all three points.
Moyes has done a magnificent job at the London Stadium. To have transformed the Hammers into Champions League contenders from mere relegation fodder in just under six months is a truly magnificent achievement.
Arteta has performed admirably in his role as Gunners boss as well. The north London outfit’s campaign has been undermined by inconsistency but on their day, they can beat anyone.
Tim Sherwood fires warning for West Ham ahead of Arsenal clash
The Hammers will have to be on top form today if they are to have any chance of beating the Gunners.
Moyes’s men must impose themselves onto the visitors.
Tim Sherwood suggested that West Ham could come unstuck if they allow Arsenal to dictate proceedings at the London Stadium this afternoon, when speaking to Optus Sport on Premier League Productions:
“The only worry I have for West Ham is that when they decide to take a back foot, like they did against Liverpool, Man United then I think they become unstuck. If they go negative and start worrying about Arsenal more than imposing themselves on the Arsenal team then they will get beat. Sometimes when they play against the big sides, they just take their foot off the gas and I don’t like that. West Ham fans won’t like that also.”
Sherwood is spot on here.
West Ham have been far too passive against the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea this season.
Today is a huge chance to make a big statement and really assert ourselves in the race for the top four.
Let’s go for it and take the game to Arsenal!
