Stick with Randolph for now, Bilic…but get Joe Hart in summer, says Hammers legend Cottee

Slaven Bilic has been told to stick with Darren Randolph in goal when West Ham host Everton in a Premier League encounter at the London Stadium tomorrow.

Former Hammers striker Tony Cottee reckons Darren Randolph should still be the first choice keeper despite being responsible, arguably, for both of Sunderland’s goals in the 2-2 at draw at the Stadium of Light last week. But Cottee says he wouldn’t disagree with a move to bring Joe Hart to the club in the summer.

West Ham need to see off an in-form Toffees outfit and claim the points to end any lingering doubts about retaining their top flight status.

But Ronald Koeman’s side will be just as determined to register a victory to earn them the points to maintain their push up the higher order of the Premier League table.

And Cottee, who played 336 games over two spells and scored 146 goals for the club, has also pointed out that facing Everton without Mark Noble, who completes a two-match ban, will be tough.

Former England attacker Cottee said: “I am sure that Darren Randolph will be holding his hands up over both goals. For me he is still our number one and he did make a couple of other saves during the match. I would stick with him, although if we were to bring in someone like Joe Hart during the summer then I don’t think too many fans would be against it.

“Apparently West Ham have not won a Premier League game without Mark Noble in ages and I think it shows
just how much we miss his influence on the pitch. We will be without him again on Saturday and also without the suspended Sam Byram which will give us a real selection problem when Everton come to the London Stadium.”
