West Ham United face a must-win game against Everton in the Premier League this afternoon.

The Premier League showdown with Everton at the London Stadium is the most important game West Ham have faced so far this season.

Julen Lopetegui is a dead man walking it seems, and could be sacked if things don’t go well against the Toffees.

The problem we will have today is that Everton are an extremely well-drilled team under Sean Dyche.

The Toffees certainly won’t be easy to beat, and they do have dangerous attacking players who can hurt us as well.

However, on paper, we should have way too much for them, if the Hammers players perform to the best of their abilities

And there’s one very good bit of news for West Ham that everyone seems to be forgetting.

West Ham boost ahead of Everton clash

Not only do we need to see a win today, but we need to see a proper performance as well.

The West Ham fans need some hope that if Lopetegui is going to remain in charge, he has the ability to turn things around.

However, it must be said that right now, three points is the be all and end all, above everything else.

And with that in mind, the potential return of Tomas Soucek after he missed last weekend’s game due to a virus should be a major boost for us.

In fact, talk of his return has gone somewhat under the radar – he is clearly not appreciated as much as he should be.

He has been superb for the Hammers this season, and despite the fact that he gets criticised regularly by some sections of fans, we are just not the same team without him, either defensively or inside the final third.

The Czech Republic international is crucial to the way that we defend set-pieces and is a constant threat inside the opposition’s penalty box.

I believe that if Soucek plays, West Ham will beat Everton today. We desperately need his unrivalled passion, commitment and work-rate.

He is the perfect example of a player who you only really understand how good he is when he doesn’t play.

Having big Tom back today would be huge for the Hammers.
