You won’t believe the clear and obvious dig Tomas Soucek has just aimed at Julen Lopetegui

Tomas Soucek was clearly not happy with Julen Lopetegui in charge at West Ham United.

Julen Lopetegui was sacked from West Ham on Wednesday, and something Tomas Soucek said just before our FA Cup clash with Aston Villa really caught my eye.

Lopetegui was moved on after overseeing a horrendous run of form, and it has since been claimed that he left the West Ham players baffled with his bizarre methods.

I was just surprised that the Spaniard lasted as long as he did at the London Stadium.

The impact from Graham Potter was instant during Friday night’s FA Cup clash with Aston Villa.

Yes, we lost the game, and the players looked gassed after 70 minutes, but there were so many positives to take from the game.

What seems clear now is that the players didn’t want to play for Lopetegui.

And Soucek’s comments prior to the Villa game told a real story.

You won’t believe dig Tomas Soucek just aimed at Julen Lopetegui

West Ham looked so much better last night during our clash with Aston Villa.

It was a performance that the Hammers fans have been crying out for.

The players were on the front foot, worked hard and pressed with aggression and cohesion before running out of gas with 20 minutes to go.

There were so many improvements all over the pitch, and it was really encouraging to see.

It was like night and day from the football we witnessed under Lopetegui, and something Soucek said before the match was really interesting.

Soucek responded to a question about Potter’s immediate impact at the London Stadium, when speaking on ITV ahead of our clash with Villa on Friday night (January 10th, 7:44pm):

‘We’ve had just one day training with him. From his first speech I saw a lot of optimism. Also, he’s a good talker, very clear.”

Well, well, well.

That’s a clear and obvious swipe at Lopetegui isn’t it.

As mentioned earlier, it has been well-documented that Lopetegui confused the Hammers players with his instructions.

Tomas Soucek quite obviously wasn’t on board with Julen Lopetegui, just like so many other West Ham players weren’t.

Thankfully the Spaniard is gone now, and we can look forward to a bright future under Graham Potter.
