West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski attended Arsenal’s Champions League semi-final second leg on Tuesday night.

The Gunners beat Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid 1-0 (2-1 on aggregate) to advance to the final in Budapest in three weeks.

Ex-West Ham star Declan Rice was one of Arsenal’s key players, and he spoke highly about his former team after the game.

“It’s a club that gave me everything. Without West Ham, there’s no me. I honestly believe that,” Rice thanked the Hammers.

Rice was not the only modern West Ham legend at the Emirates Stadium, as Fabianski was there for another reason.

Lukasz Fabianski worked as commentator at Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid

Lukasz Fabianski is still under contract at West Ham for a few more weeks, but his playing career is effectively over.

Fabianski has not made the Hammers’ matchday squad since the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham on 13 September.

He has been dealing with a back injury for the entire season and is expected to retire when his deal expires next month.

Fabianski has already begun preparing for his retirement, as he plans to become an academy coach at West Ham.

He could also transition into commentary when he hangs up his gloves, given his latest job at the Emirates Stadium.

Fabianski worked as a co-commentator for Canal+ Sport in Poland for Arsenal’s Champions League semi-final.

Having spent the last two decades in England, the 41-year-old has plenty of knowledge on Premier League clubs.

Fabianski could even turn his hand to English-speaking punditry for the likes of Sky Sports one day, as many ex-players have done.

For now, the former Poland international will remain at Rush Green as West Ham look to avoid relegation to the Championship.

Whatever happens, one would expect Fabianski to receive a send-off after the final home game against Leeds.
