So, Julen Lopetegui is the man who David Sullivan has chosen to be the new manager of West Ham United.
Julen Lopetegui met with West Ham majority shareholder David Sullivan a while back now, and the Spaniard apparently won the Hammers co-owner over during talks.
When David Moyes officially leaves the London Stadium, the 57-year-old Spaniard will be named as West Ham’s ‘head coach’ – the first time the man in charge has been given that title in our 129-year history.
A big shake up is expected from Lopetegui, with numerous players looking set to leave and a whole host of new signings needed.

The Spaniard has also apparently been given the remit of bringing some of our talented youngsters from the under-21s through to the first-team.
Improving on what Moyes has achieved with West Ham will not be easy but if Lopetegui has a clear plan and vision for the future, with a discernible playing style to back it up, I have every faith that he’ll lead us to the promised land.
But what constitutes the so-called ‘promised land’?
It seems as though Lopetegui has made the answer to that question very clear indeed to Mr Sullivan…
What Julen Lopetegui told David Sullivan during sales pitch
The former Wolves, Sevilla, Real Madrid, Porto and Spain national team boss has a big reputation within the game of being a master tactician.
He is clearly a very ambitious man as well, and that explains why he walked away from Wolves, after numerous broken promises from the club owners.
Hopefully Lopetegui will hold Sullivan to account when it comes to transfer funds. One thing’s for sure, he has made no bones about his ambitions for West Ham.
What he reportedly told Sullivan will leave the Hammers fans salivating ahead of the 2024/25 campaign…

According to The Athletic, Lopetegui told Sullivan during a sales pitch that he intends to push West Ham to a level whereby we qualify for the Champions League.
That is so fantastic to hear, and the Spaniard’s attitude is in stark contrast to that of Moyes. The Scot’s dour approach and negative rhetoric have actually held us back when it comes to pushing for a top four place over the past three years.
If Aston Villa can do it under Unai Emery, why can’t we with Lopetegui at the helm? This is the time for all Hammers fans to dream big. What’s football really about if you don’t have a dream of your club one day winning the biggest trophies? It’s what keeps us coming back year in, year out.
Julen Lopetegui has apparently told David Sullivan that he aims to take West Ham to the promised land of Champions League football. If the 57-year-old does indeed do that, he’ll become a legend in East London.
