Everton have been on the rise under David Moyes while West Ham continue to struggle – under two different managers – since he left last year.
Many Everton fans have goaded their West Ham counterparts over the fact they let David Moyes go after his reinvigorating return to Merseyside.
Moyes had been the subject of intense debate in West Ham circles for the best part of two years before it emerged he would be leaving the London Stadium.
Many West Ham fans wanted to say goodbye to the Scot in search of a more modern and exciting style.
Others felt the Hammers would be making a mistake not keeping him in east London.
In the end Moyes himself stated it was best for all parties to go their separate ways after he declined the initial offer of a new deal because he was unhappy to cede transfer control to Tim Steidten and see his son Dave junior removed from the scouting setup as part of the terms.
What Everton fans are saying about Moyes will interest West Ham
David Sullivan and co refused to negotiate on those terms and the offer was withdrawn.
West Ham have been warned ad nauseum to ‘be careful what you wish for’ since Moyes’ departure. Even by Everton fans.
But those uttering that phrase have been given plenty of ammunition as Steidten and Moyes’ replacement Julen Lopetegui were sacked in January.
Graham Potter has struggled badly too, with West Ham going backwards from 13th to 17th since his appointment.
Ironically Everton actually wanted Potter as their prime candidate to replace Sean Dyche but the Hammers beat them to the out of work ex Chelsea boss.
The Hammers’ malaise dates back to last January under Moyes, though.

West Ham were in the top six under Moyes after a 2-0 win at Arsenal on December 28th 2023.
The Irons collapsed, though, and have staggeringly won just 13 of their 53 Premier League games since then.
As a result, many West Ham supporters feel Moyes deserves his fair share of the blame for the current situation.
The subject of Moyes continues to drive passionate debate among Hammers fans to this day.
Every time Everton win, it is rubbed in the face of those who wanted Moyes out at West Ham.
But what Everton fans are now saying about Moyes will raise eyebrows at West Ham in a major twist.
West Ham fans showed what they really thought of Moyes and he responded in kind when they played out a 1-1 draw at Everton not too long ago.
Honeymoon over for Moyes at Everton after 1 win in 10
It has been all sweetness and light for the Toffees since the Scot returned.
However, it seems the honeymoon period may be over now for Moyes’ second spell.
It is now just one win for Everton in their last 10 games under Moyes after they threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with already relegated Ipswich.
It means the Toffees have now failed to win any of their last six Premier League games at Goodison Park, drawing five and losing one.
In fact it is Everton’s longest winless run at home in the league for 16 years – dating back to December 2009, when Moyes was manager there the first time around.
Now Moyes is already dividing Everton fans as he did at West Ham, with many feeling the club would be best served to move on this summer judging by the reaction on social media.
Some of the reactions from Everton fans will be of significant interest back at West Ham.

‘Time for the Moyes love-in to end’
One Blues supporter said: “Time for the Moyes love-in to end. We look so open defensively, and for what? 1 win in 10… 2 in 13…. Pre-Dyche habits creeping back in… He’s NOT known for great expansive football, so if we can’t defend we are sleepwalking into a stressful first season at BMD.”
Another Everton fan feels Moyes is part of a ‘dumbing down’ of Everton expectations from the glory days and hopes he is just a short-term fix.
“For me, David Moyes is a part of our history which led to the dumbing down of our hope and expectations. I reckon he’s better for us than Dyche, though hopefully still short term so we can then move forward properly.”
Another Toffee added that there would be calls for the manager’s head if Sean Dyche was still in charge.
“One win in 10. If that was Dyche they’d be screaming for his head! So David Moyes you better start the season in August good because you will not get long because Billy liar has passed away.”
One Everton fan says he can’t see the difference between Moyes and his predecessor.
“I generally don’t see the difference between Sean Dyche and David Moyes… same c—, different package, week after week.”
In response, a Toffees fan added: “Dyche could keep a clean sheet.”
Another Everton supporter feels the club is going down a familiar road with another safety first manager like Dyche and Sam Allardyce – who also managed the Hammers.
And he doesn’t want Moyes to lead the club into their exciting new stadium era.
“Couldn’t agree more. Got us safe, just like Dyche and Allardyce did but now as bad as ever. Depressing to think it’s Moyes leading us into this new era.”
Former Hammers boss now dividing fans at Everton
Something that will certainly resonate with West Ham fans was another Everton supporter’s pop at Moyes’ reluctance to make substitutions.
“Why make substitutions on 89 mins? Does Moyes really think he’s changing the game? Oh for a forward thinking manager.”
While some Everton fans were defending Moyes – as was the case when he was criticised at West Ham – it is not just a handful of Blues voicing their frustration.
“Amidst all the pats on the back for David Moyes, can I just point out that we have won one of our last 10 matches That’s just nowhere near good enough.”
Moyes’ tactics came under fire from another Everton fan.
“Poor tactics today, best 11 we could have picked if he didn’t just go with the “let’s just keep crossing it in” tactic. Ipswich soaked it up well after Betos header, needed to be more versatile in the attacking play, thought we were very predictable.”
Final word to a Blues supporter who was angered by Moyes’ post match claim that his team played well.
“He lost me at “I thought we played really well” don’t think we had a single shot the whole second half. It was Ipswich not 70’s Brazil. Just call it as it is. We had enough utter waffle from the last guy.”
It will be interesting to see how the Moyes situation develops between now and the end of the season.
