West Ham United’s new regime, headed up by majority owner Daniel Kretinsky, are showing they mean business with a major announcement fans will love.
Daniel Kretinsky and the new-look Hammers board already have the goodwill of fans following the Czech business tycoon’s move to buy another 16 per cent of the club following the resignations of Karren Brady and David Sullivan.
By very deliberately taking his stake – each worth £5.6m – up to specific majority of 43 per cent, Kretinsky injected £90m into West Ham, the exact amount that was needed by the end of June to avoid financial sanctions.
With Brady and Sullivan off the board and interim CEO Karim Virani impressing fans with his willingness to consult and converse with them, supporters have felt positive despite relegation.
West Ham’s new regime make another major announcement
Especially with Kretinsky going on record to insist players do not need to be sold for financial reasons and that he will back Nuno Espirito Santo with funds to get West Ham back in the Premier League.
Two weeks ago Hammers News called on the board to score an easy win with fans by starting the process to change the widely disliked West Ham badge.
West Ham have announced that they will consult fans on what their club crest will be going forward. What would you like it to look like? ⚒️
Is the first step towards repairing a broken relationship with the supporters? 🤔
The crest, emblazoned with the word ‘London’, has become a symbol of Sullivan and Brady’s tenure on the Hammers board after they changed it to coincide with the move to the London Stadium.
Now West Ham’s new regime have shown they mean business with a major announcement.

And the club’s hierarchy has heeded what we said in our article and the will of most Hammers fans by pledging to change West Ham’s badge.
West Ham’s new-look board has revealed the club will be playing with a new crest chosen by fans for the 2028/29 season.
That is to allow sufficient time for manufacturing and production deadlines while also ensuring enough time for a thorough review, with supporter feedback at the core of the change.
Fans set to influence and choose brand new West Ham badge
The Hammers will extensively consult the club’s Fan Advisory Board, season ticket holders of the men and women teams, claret members and supporters who attended more than five home games last season.
Showing further understanding and care when it comes to West Ham’s history, the club deliberately made the announcement on the anniversary of the formation of Thames Ironworks FC in 1895.

West Ham have confirmed the ‘full and comprehensive supporter-led process’ will begin soon and will ‘ensure its world-famous crest best reflects the club’s unique heritage, identity and culture’.
This will be music to the ears of fans with the FAB set to be consulted first before the process is opened up to the wider fanbase as outlined above.

The consultation process will run throughout the new season and any changes will come into effect for the start of the 2028/29 season.
After feedback from fans, West Ham will then create the new design concepts with a vote by the supporter groups outlined above to determine the final preferred choice.
West Ham United interim CEO Virani said: “With 2026 marking 10 years since our current crest was launched, now is the right time for us to review its future. The Board and I want to ensure that the Club’s history and heritage are appropriately reflected in everything we do, and that our loyal fans should play a leading role in determining how that is delivered. To that end, we will ensure any change is supporter-led and we will be working with the FAB as an independent body every step of the way.
“I look forward to working with them and the wider supporter base as we embark on this exciting project.”
The club have also pledged to provide regular updates for supporters throughout the consultation process.
