Jean-Clair Todibo to West Ham United could well still be on this summer it seems.
Fear not Hammers fans, the chase is still very much on.
West Ham were first linked with a move to sign Jean-Clair Todibo a few weeks ago, but the links seemed far fetched at the time.
Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui has already brought Max Kilman to the London Stadium, but he clearly wants further central defensive reinforcements.
Todibo would be a sensational signing for the Hammers. He’s incredibly powerful in the air, quick along the ground, is a great tackler and reads the game superbly well.
At 24, the Frenchman has at least 10 years left ahead of him playing at the highest level, and the partnership he would form with Kilman would be a fearsome one.
Now though, Juventus are believed to have opened a direct channel of communication with Nice about bringing Todibo to Turin (Juve FC).
Bad news right?
Not necessarily, and there’s been a big twist it seems. The Hammers may well still have a big say as to where the Nice star ends up this summer…

The Nice defender is one of the very best in the game at what he does.
The thought of Todibo lined up alongside Kilman is a hugely exciting one, I can’t lie.
So the news suggesting that Juventus are closing in on signing him was extremely disappointing to hear.
It seems like the Hammers definitely haven’t given up the fight yet though…
According to Tutto Juve, West Ham are plotting to beat Juventus to the signing of the 24-year-old centre-back by offering him a ‘superior salary and bonuses’.
All I can say is wow! What a turnaround that is. Little old West Ham being able to financially bully a superpower of the game like Juventus!
It wasn’t long ago when they were spending £100 million on Cristiano Ronaldo, £85 million on Gonzalo Higuain, £75 million on Matthijs de Ligt and £70 million on Dusan Vlahovic.
And going even further back – to the summer of 2001 – when Juve splashed out nearly £100 million on the signings of Gianluigi Buffon and Pavel Nedved.
How things have changed.
No wonder they wanted to join the Super League to compete in a closed shop.
Now, I’m not saying that West Ham offering Jean-Clair Todibo more money will guarantee that we sign him.
I’m just blown away by the fact that we have more financial firepower than Juventus. A true sign that the Premier League is streets ahead of Serie when it comes to revenue streams.
