Tomas Soucek does not get enough respect from West Ham supporters – according to some of the club’s fanbase.

Soucek has been a remarkable signing for West Ham, making 273 appearances for the club since joining from Slavia Prague and helping them win the Conference League in 2023.

Still, the Czech can often be a relatively divisive figure online.

As such, Hammers News asked our subscribers on TalkingPoints a very simple question. Which player deserves more respect from the fanbase and why?

The response was fairly unanimous on Soucek’s behalf.

West Ham fans say Tomas Soucek doesn’t get enough respect

One of our subscribers wrote: “Soucek without doubt. Scored some important goals and always plays for the shirt 100%. Claret and Blue through and through.”

Another agreed and said: “He’s a proper Hammer through and through and doesn’t get the credit he deserves sometimes.”

Over on our Facebook page, the same question garnered a similar response.

“Soucek. Vastly underrated, he gets everywhere. Chipping in [with] goals, [he] causes havoc every time he gets in the box,” said another fan.

One supporter added: “Our Czech warrior.”

How Tomas Soucek is becoming even more important at West Ham United

Over six years after joining, the 31-year-old continues to grow in importance here in east London.

Indeed, Soucek is now undertaking a leadership role at West Ham, establishing himself as even more of a leader on the pitch.

Though you’ll often find sections of the support online lamenting his very inclusion in a lineup, there is a reason he continues to play a key role under a succession of West Ham managers.

He’s provided so many big moments since he arrived and when all is said and done, he surely has to go down as a modern day legend.

Soucek may not be perfect, but rarely have West Ham needed him to be. He is an absolute warrior and is clearly up for the scrap of a relegation battle.
