West Ham United fans were not impressed with Jarrod Bowen for his performance against Liverpool.

Bowen recorded the assist for his side’s second goal in West Ham’s 5-2 loss to Liverpool but did not do enough to please supporters.

The West Ham United captain is in a strange moment right now. That was his fifth goal involvement in his last six Premier League games, but even his most ardent supporter would surely admit he is struggling to convince.

We all love Jarrod Bowen – but is anyone actually undroppable? 🤔

West Ham fans vote Bowen as their worst player vs Liverpool

Bowen amassed 50% of the vote, even despite his assist.

Mads Hermansen came second with 30.95%.

Ironically, the man who Bowen assisted in the form of Taty Castellanos also attracted 14.29% of the vote.

Jarrod Bowen’s statistics for West Ham against Liverpool

It does seem harsh to criticise the forward after all he’s done for the club, both this season and in general.

Indeed, without the 29-year-old, the Hammers would have been relegated a long time ago.

Still, there’s little point in sugarcoating it. Bowen did not play well for West Ham against Liverpool and his overall performances are becoming a slight concern.

Part of that is surely down to just how much heavy lifting he’s needed to do over the past two seasons, so that context must always be applied.

His statistics don’t make for bad reading, at least. That probably points to supporters getting used to a certain standard, one that even players like Bowen struggle to match on a consistent basis.

As per FotMob data, Bowen created three chances, recorded one assist, won four of his eight attempted duels and made seven ball recoveries.

Clearly, he wasn’t an absolute disaster on Merseyside. He will, however, need to be better if he’s going to stop West Ham from getting relegated.
