Thomas Tuchel could be set to use West Ham star Jarrod Bowen in a completely new role after selecting him for the England squad for the November internationals.
That’s according to leading England reporter Rob Dorsett who has delivered an update after West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen retained his place ahead of other players being touted for England selection.
West Ham fans are fiercely proud of their long history of providing players for England.
Hammers fans love nothing more than to remind people that West Ham won the World Cup in 1966.
While the claim is often said somewhat tongue in cheek, it’s not too far removed from the truth given the scorers of the four goals in the final and the captain were all West Ham stars.
Bowen can emulate Hammers legends Moore, Hurst and Peters
Bowen has followed in the footsteps of the great Bobby Moore by captaining the Hammers.
The forward is well on his way to becoming West Ham’s all-time Premier League top goalscorer.
And he looks set to get the chance to emulate the likes of Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters by scoring for England at a World Cup having been selected once again by Thomas Tuchel for the last England squad of the year.
It’s been a bit of a strange time for Bowen since Tuchel took charge of the Three Lions.

The German selected Bowen in his first squad back in March, rightly so too as the Hammers skipper was in the top three performing English players in the Premier League last term.
However, there was a shock for Bowen and the Irons when he was left out of the June squad by Tuchel.
That’s despite Bowen twice offering to move his entire wedding to make himself available for England duty in the summer.
The selfless offer was passed up by Tuchel who opted to leave West Ham’s talisman out anyway.
West Ham boss at the time, Graham Potter, conceded Bowen was ‘naturally disappointed’ at Tuchel’s brutal snub.
West Ham star Bowen may be set for major new England role
But the ex Chelsea boss could not ignore Bowen for the September England squad selection and he has now made three in a row after being called up for the Three Lions’ final two 2026 FIFA World Cup Group K qualifiers to be played in November.
That’s despite the return to the fold of Phil Foden and calls for Danny Welbeck to be included off the back of his superb form for Brighton.
Now West Ham star Bowen may be set for a major new England role claims a top journalist.
Delivering the lowdown on Tuchel’s latest ‘fascinating’ squad selection for games against Serbia and Albania, Rob Dorsett revealed Bowen being tried out in a new role for England could be one of the reasons Welbeck has been snubbed.

Dorsett says Bowen could be used as a striker, as he has been for West Ham at times in the past, as Tuchel looks at alternatives when Harry Kane isn’t available.
“Up front, it is a real surprise to see Ollie Watkins miss out, although I’m told that may be fitness-related,” Dorsett said on Sky Sports.
“It’s a tough break for Danny Welbeck to miss out, but it’s no huge surprise for a player who, despite his brilliant form and six Premier League goals, turns 35 later this month and hasn’t played international football for seven years.
Bowen could get England striker role in test says top journalist
“Tuchel has only one natural No 9 in his squad, in Harry Kane. Maybe that’s deliberate, so he can look at Marcus Rashford, Jarrod Bowen or even Anthony Gordon (if he doesn’t have to withdraw because of his hip injury) as a makeshift front-man.”
It would be great to see Bowen get a start given Tuchel’s side have already clinched qualification for next summer’s World Cup in North America with a perfect six wins from six.
England host Serbia at Wembley before a trip to Albania and Nuno Espirito Santo may be a very interested spectator if Bowen is used as a striker.
That has had mixed results for the Hammers in the past.
But clearly England are far superior to West Ham so Bowen may find he has more to work with should Tuchel give him a run-out as the forward.
