The future of David Moyes at West Ham beyond this summer is far from certain and now James Ward-Prowse has had his say.
There’s no hiding the fact West Ham are coming to a crossroads in the next few months over the future of David Moyes.
The manager’s contract with West Ham is up in the summer as things stand. There have been doubts the Scot will remain beyond that.
Especially after Moyes insisted it is he who is stalling on signing a new Hammers deal.
The manager is doing his level best to prove his worth again of late against what is an excellent body of work at the London Stadium over two spells.
Noise around Moyes dampens after back-to-back wins
West Ham currently sit seventh in the Premier League table – which will be good enough to qualify for Europe for a fourth consecutive season.
And they are favourites to overcome Freiburg and make the quarter-finals of European competition for a third season in a row.
A plethora of managers have been linked as potential replacements for Moyes at West Ham.
So it was inevitable reporters would ask about Moyes’ future when they got the chance to put questions to a West Ham player, as they do during UEFA competition press conferences.

Hammers star backs boss but insists focus is on big game
Now West Ham star James Ward-Prowse has delivered his Moyes verdict amid uncertainty over his future.
The midfielder joined the Hammers in the summer for £30m.
He has been billed as a Moyes-driven signing. And Ward-Prowse has defended his manager’s record while being reluctant to get too distracted ahead of the Europa League last 16 first leg in Germany.
“The job he’s done has been superb,” Ward-Prowse said, as reported on the club’s official website.
“And while I’ve been here I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working under him.
“We have to focus on tomorrow night, and going back to London Stadium with a good result.”
Answer to the big West Ham question must wait
Question marks arose over Moyes’ future when West Ham hit a barren spell where they went eight games without a win to start 2024.
Reports have also abound that Moyes is not happy at the prospect of ceding control of transfers to Tim Steidten.
But back-to-back wins over Brentford and Everton have breathed new life into the season for now.
A top club insider told me Moyes’ situation will be assessed at the end of the campaign.
Although one journalist claimed there is only one way Moyes will still be West Ham manager next season.
The answer to the question over Moyes’ future must wait for now.
