Key West Ham star Emerson Palmieri is battling to be fit for Thursday’s huge Europa League last 16 clash with Freiburg.

Emerson Palmieri was not in the West Ham squad for the draw with Burnley.

That’s after he picked up a soft tissue injury in the Europa League last 16 first leg defeat at Freiburg last week.

The clock is ticking to Thursday’s do-or-die European clash.

Emerson is key to this West Ham team as David Moyes has absolutely no quality back-up anywhere close to his level in reserve.

Emerson is key to West Ham playing well

He is particularly crucial when it comes to linking up with Lucas Paqueta down the left-hand side.

Yesterday the top source inside West Ham told Hammers News Emerson’s injury is not serious.

But his chances of facing Freiburg were rated at 25 per cent.

I was also told by the senior contact that the next 48 hours were crucial in his recovery.

Well the left-back is certainly leaving no stone unturned it seems.

Hammer star’s social media update ahead of Freiburg

West Ham star Emerson has shared an update on social media in his race against time to face Freiburg.

And he even has oxygen tanks at home to boost his chances of coming back quickly.

Emerson posted a selfie on his Instagram Stories while wearing an oxygen mask and doing the peace sign alongside the caption: “Recovery.”

Oxygen is vital for healing wounds.

It is intricately involved in numerous biological processes including cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and protein synthesis, which are required for restoration of tissue function and integrity.

Emerson leaving no stone unturned

Here’s a recap of what the top source inside the club told us about Emerson’s chances of making West Ham’s crunch game.

“It’s the groin or thigh area and the next 48 hours are critical,” the source told Hammers News.

“It’s just soft tissue damage, NOT a long injury, 7-14 days.

“There’s a 25 per cent chance he will be available (for Freiburg).”

Should Emerson not make it back in time Moyes must decide between Aaron Cresswell or Ben Johnson to deputise.

The manager must also weigh up the risk of making anything worse for Emerson with a tough run of games coming up against Aston Villa, Newcastle, Spurs and Wolves which could more or less decide whether West Ham finish in a European spot in the Premier League table.
