Academy graduate Mason Terry recently opened up about his journey at West Ham so far.

He signed for the Hammers as an eight-year-old and has since progressed through to the under-21s.

The goalkeeper has now revealed that West Ham were not his only option when he was first looking to join an academy.

Terry received interest from three Premier League rivals before deciding to sign for his boyhood club.

Mason Terry joined West Ham over Premier League rivals

West Ham were one of four Premier League clubs that wanted to sign him, he explained to whufc.com.

“At the time, there was interest from Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham. I broke my arm, so that put things on hold in terms of trials and stuff.

“I joined West Ham, and to this day, I still have the paperwork of that first contract.

“I remember my Dad driving me up to the ground. I did it with a few of the other lads that I’ve been teammates with for the last 14 years, including Fin Herrick and Lewis Orford.

“It meant a lot for me to sign for a club that I supported as a young boy.”

Hopefully, Terry feels he made the right choice to join the Hammers over their London rivals.

The Braintree loanee certainly has a future in the game, but it remains to be seen whether he will become a top player.

Terry even scored a 95th-minute goal in the National League Cup game against Truro City in January.
