West Ham legend Tony Cottee is excited for the Hammers’ must-win game against Newcastle on Sunday evening.
Cottee made over 300 appearances across two spells with West Ham in the 1980s and 90s, scoring 146 goals.
The former England international is not only one of the Hammers’ greatest strikers ever, but he is also an Irons supporter.
Cottee has even travelled to St. James’ Park for West Ham’s penultimate game of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Our away record has been woeful this season! 😬
Tony Cottee predicts a 2-1 West Ham win vs Newcastle
Born and raised in East London, Cottee used to attend West Ham games as a supporter before his playing career.
The 60-year-old is now making an emotional return to the stands as a travelling Hammers supporter after almost 50 years.
“I’m off on the train to Newcastle as a fan for the first time in 46 years,” Cottee posted on social media.
Even though West Ham can still mathematically avoid relegation without a victory, it really feels like a must-win match.
The Hammers must take their chance to overtake Tottenham, putting them under pressure ahead of their next game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
West Ham supporters will be pleased to hear that Cottee is feeling confident of doing exactly that, predicting a 2-1 away win.
“Quite simply, we have to win,” he said. “Forget about Spurs, get the result and hope that we can take it to the last game.
“I quietly fancy us to get a 2-1 win… either way, I’ll be having a few pints tonight! COYI.”
Hopefully, Cottee’s rare appearance will bring good luck to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, and his next away day is in the Premier League.
